Herault is a very diverse department. You can enjoy both the Mediterranean coast with its beautiful  fishing ports and beaches with fine sand :  Sète, Cap d’Agde, Marseillan beach, Balaruc,

Valras … but also the hinterland with its  historical or natural sites : Saint Guilhem le Désert, the Canal du Midi , the basin of Mourèze, the lake of Salagou, …

Near the cottage : Pézenas, a city of art and history

Pezenas is a town with a rich medieval history. The streets of the “old Pézenas” are dotted with historical monuments that deserve  everyone detours: St. John collegial (18th century),  Theatre (former chapel of the Black Penitents),  Jewish ghetto (12th century), many private mansions …
Pézenas is also “the city of Molière”: it was a favorite place to stay for Molière and his Illustre Théatre company during their many tours  in the provinces between 1646 and 1657. Perhaps this is  why Pézenas deserves its appellation of “city of arts” with the organization of nine festivals throughout the year (music, theater, opera, humor, etc …).
